Isle of Cumbrae
Isle of Cumbrae was activated from Sandbank 13 March 2024 to cover for Loch Shira which had continued service single ended due to bow ramp failure. I recall how large IOC loked when entering service in 1977, when taken in relation to predecessors Largs and Coruisk. However the ever increasing traffic levels, exacerbated by civil engineering works, quickly exposed her outdated design, leading to 90 minute delays ex Largs and 60 minute delays ex Cumbrae slip even when running in shuttle mode.
